Dr. Potts is a warm, collaborative therapist grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, trauma-informed, and interpersonal approaches to help clients move towards their goals and values. As a queer, intersectional feminist, Dr. Potts appreciates the impact of identity and lived experience on mental health and is committed to creating an affirming, inclusive space where clients feel seen and empowered.
Dr. Potts helps clients build self-acceptance and make choices based on their values, rather than being led by fear, shame, or painful memories. With a background in exposure-based therapies, she supports clients in gently turning toward the thoughts, feelings, and situations they’ve been avoiding in order to start moving toward the life they want. For Dr. Potts, healing isn’t about getting rid of difficult emotions but learning how to make room for them while still showing up for what matters most. She believes therapy can be a powerful space for healing, self-discovery, and building a more meaningful and connected life. She is especially passionate about working with LGBTQ+ populations, women, and those who have experienced childhood or sexual trauma.
She works with adults and older adolescents in the following areas:
- PTSD, trauma, and complex trauma
- Anxiety
- Depression
- LGBTQ+ identity exploration and issues
- Suicidality
- Stress and worry
- OCD
- Psychological testing for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other mental health conditions
Dr. Potts earned both her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and M.S. in Psychology from the University of North Texas. She completed her clinical internship at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center where she received specialized training in trauma-focused treatment, LGBTQ+ issues and gender-affirming care, anxiety disorders, exposure therapies, and psychological assessment.
Dr. Potts is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), among other therapeutic modalities.
In her free time, Dr. Potts enjoys yoga, hiking, and binge-watching (then passionately discussing) her favorite TV show of the moment.
Dr. Potts is in her final steps towards independent licensure and is supervised by Dr. Katie Croft-Caderao.
