Angela
Beard, Psy.D
Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Beard works with adults navigating a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anger or irritability, anxiety, depression, and personality-related challenges. She brings extensive experience supporting individuals, couples, and families—including those in military, law enforcement, and first responder roles—as well as clients exploring identity- or culture-related stress.

In therapy, Dr. Beard collaborates closely with each client to identify their goals, clarify what meaningful change looks like, and support both practical strategies and deeper insight. Some clients come in with a very specific issue they want to work on, while others explore broader patterns or long-term challenges. Therapy is tailored to what you need—and it moves at your pace.  Dr. Beard specializes in treating the following:

  • Trauma
  • Anger and/or irritability
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Relationship problems
  • Culture and identity concerns
  • Excessive need for control
  • Comprehensive testing for ADHD and related concerns
  • Personality assessment

Dr. Beard completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Baylor University and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Dallas. After finishing her clinical internship at the Louisiana State University Student Health Center and East Louisiana State Hospital, she spent several years as a staff psychologist for VA medical centers in San Antonio and Dallas. She has specialized training in gold-standard trauma treatments, including Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), as well as Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT).  She has extensive training and experience in therapies that address anxiety and panic, emotional dysregulation, social and relational problems, and persistently rigid or inflexible thinking.

Dr. Beard grew up in a military family and has lived in several cities, but New Orleans is her favorite. Her interests include cooking and baking, travel, zero-waste practices, deep-dive podcasts, and riding her e-scooter around Dallas.
