Are you worried that you or someone you care for has ADHD or a learning disorder? You might have noticed grades or work performance slipping, trouble with concentration, or difficulty with completing assignments, which could all indicate an attention or learning problem. Perhaps you are trying to decide whether you or your child could fulfill their potential if only they had extra time on tests or a distraction-free learning environment.
The best way to determine whether an attention or learning problem exists and the most appropriate course of action is to have a psychologist conduct a psychoeducational assessment. Dallas CBT provides assessments to determine accurate diagnoses, recommendations for treatment, and whether academic and test-taking accommodations (university, SAT, ACT, TEA) are needed. An assessment battery is designed to address the following issues for adults and children ages 6 and above:
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD or ADHD)
- Specific Learning Disorder (such as Dyslexia, processing speed issues, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia)
- Autism Spectrum
- University disability accommodations
- Testing accommodations (SAT, ACT, and STAAR)
- Depression or Anxiety
- Behavioral Problems
A formal assessment battery for learning disorders and ADHD is a thorough process involving many steps and can only be administered by a Clinical Psychologist. Dallas CBT provides gold-standard assessments that include a clinical interview, several well-established and standardized intelligence (IQ testing) or cognitive testing, a detailed report, and recommendations.

Psychological and psychoeducational assessments provide rich information about intellectual abilities, learning styles, and patterns of strengths and weaknesses. Assessments can be used to diagnose an underlying learning and/or cognitive issue, or to improve upon existing academic strengths and abilities. An assessment could benefit you or your child if you are noticing: academic difficulties or a need for academic accommodations, behavioral problems, attention problems, significant variations in academic or cognitive abilities, or emotional difficulties, especially related to school or work. Our testing batteries meet criteria for university, SAT, ACT, and academic (TEA) requirements.
Assessments are comprehensive and individually tailored for the concern at hand. Testing sessions typically include a clinical interview, standardized intelligence (IQ testing) and cognitive testing, evaluation of academic achievement, psychological measures, and measures of attention span and impulsivity.
Your results, including cognitive and learning patterns and potential diagnoses, will be detailed in a report and reviewed with you, along with specific recommendations based on our findings.
The Evaluation Process
Evaluations typically require 4-6 hours, depending on the presenting concern and the pace of the individual being tested. Currently, testing is offered on Mondays. A school absence excuse will be provided, if needed. For children undergoing an evaluation, parents/caregivers and teachers are typically asked to complete questionnaires to provide additional information about the child and the problem at hand. The assessment process itself involves many different types of tests, some may seem like tasks that one might do in school and some might seem like games or puzzles.
A follow-up session will be scheduled to review the results of your assessment within one to two weeks of testing. We will go over the outcome of your evaluation in detail, along with specific recommendations. You will be given a copy of your report at your review session.
The rate for evaluations is $180 per hour including actual testing time, scoring, report writing, and follow-up session for assessment feedback. Dallas CBT does not currently take insurance, but a detailed receipt will be provided upon request if you would like to pursue out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance. Please note that reimbursement rates vary based on insurance policies.
